Drive: More illegal buildings razed

LAHORE - Town Planning Wing staff of the Lahore Development Authority demolished a number of illegal buildings in various localities on Thursday. The LDA staff demolished a hospital structure that had been unlawfully constructed on plot No 3 block F/1 of Wapda Town. Two constructions that had been raised without getting approved the building plan from LDA on plots No 196 and 217 of L-block, Sabzazar Scheme were also razed. Similarly constructions on plot No 412, 413 and 414 of H-block, Gulshan-e-Ravi were also demolished because they had been built without seeking approval. Meanwhile, on 27th day of the operation clean up anti-encroachment teams of different towns of the City collectively covered about 39 kilometre area in their respective towns and demolished as many as 361 ramps, 109 stairs, 150 shades and removed 29 illegally installed signboards with shifting 12 truckloads of raps in warehouses. In this regard, teams of Shalimar Town demolished about 180 ramps, 60 stairs and 140 shades from 3 kilometre area of Ring Road, Chowk New Shadbagh and Amir Road. Teams of Allama Iqbal Town removed moveable encroached items in 3 trucks from College Road, Butt Chowk, Allah Hoo Chowk, Jinnah Hospital, Liaqat Chowk, Scheme Mor, Yateem Khana Band Road and Kot Kamboh areas. The teams of Data Ganj Bukhsh Town cleared 9 kilometre area of the town including Civil Secretariat, SSP Office, Session Court, Lytton Road, Nasir Bagh, Landa Bazaar, Circular Road, McLeod Road and Hall Road and demolished 8 ramps and two walls with removing two signboards. Teams of Nishtar Town cleared 3 kilometre area from encroachments and demolished 55 ramps and 10 shades from Main Ferozepur Road, Chungi Bazaar, Ismail Nagar and Qainchi Bazaar. Further, the teams of Aziz Bhatti Town demolished 35 ramps from 9.5 kilometre area of Daroghawala, Pakistan Mint Stop, Zarrar Shaheed Road, Joray Pul, and Canal Bank Road with removing encroached items in three truckloads. The teams also lodged 5 FIRs against the encroachers with imposing fine of a sum of Rs 10,000. The teams of Ravi Town cleared 5 kilometre area from encroached items and shifted them in two truckloads. Samanabad Town demolished 10 ramps and 20 stairs while clearing 1.5 kilometre area of the town and the teams of Gulberg Town demolished 73 ramps, 2 tanoors, and 25 stairs from two kilometre area of Makka Colony.
