Sindh Assembly legislates three bills in three years

KARACHI Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro submitted three years performance report of the Sindh Assembly, which revealed that only 84 MPAs remained active during sessions. Addressing a press conference here at the Committee Room of Sindh Assembly on Thursday, the Speaker said that Sindh Assembly referred six bills to standing committees in which three were legislated while two of them were in pipeline including the Sindh Sales Tax on Service Bill and the Provincial Ministers Salaries, Allowances and Privileges Bill. He said the assembly also passed 100 out of 100 joint resolutions which were tabled from the government, while Assembly also carried 04 motions out of 04, adding that the Assembly also passed 54 bills while 29 resolutions were passed from 798 resolutions received after taking oath from five April, 2008. The Speaker further said in order to make sure the transparency, the Assembly had broken the tradition and permitted the live telecast system in which provincial Assembly of Sindh shows their dedication towards the public issues. He added that the system of check and balance is view trend and age of politics, it is through this, the nation comes to know that what the duties and responsibilities of their trusted leaders were and how they are full filling their responsibilities. He said during the three years almost 26 sessions were held so far, after 18th amendment while it is necessary for the assemblies to complete at least 100 days but due to good performance the assembly have completed 105 days in the third parliamentary years.
