Varsity organising biggest career fair

LAHORE - The Government College Universitys Career Guidance and Placement Centre is going to hold one of the biggest career fairs for the university students on Tuesday at the varsity campus. GCU Placement Officer Waqar Ranjha said that the career fair would allow the GCU final year students and graduates to explore career opportunities at reputed organisations besides giving them opportunities to avail foreign scholarships. He also noted that as many as 30 banks, non-governmental organisations and multi-national companies including Allied Bank, WWF Pakistan and Nestle are coming to the fair in search of talented and committed students. The officer observed the companies would hold written tests and on-campus interviews and shortlist the candidates on spot. The British Council and the United States Education Foundation in Pakistan would also set up their stalls and brief the students on various available foreign scholarships including the Fulbright and on requirements and eligibility criteria as well. Ranjha maintained the career fair had become a regular annual feature as the GCU centre had been conducting it for the last four years. He claimed that the 2011 carrier fair would be the biggest than any other fair conducted at the venue. However, also Old Ravians who are still looking for better job opportunities could benefit from the carrier fair, he said. GCU centre in-charge Yousaf Bashir said that the purpose of the fair was to build a strong foundation for the professional career of the students so that they could excel into market at a rigorous pace.
