PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the ongoing terrorist activities have made the people of the province patients of psychology and depression.
Therefore, he added, it was need of the hour to arrange as much as possible cultural programmes to provide them with some moments of joy. He was talking to the media after inauguration of spring festival in Iqra National University Peshawar on Saturday.
While appreciating the efforts of Iqra University for arranging the festival, the provincial minister said that it was a good effort adding that the provincial government would encourage such positive activities at all levels.
Mian Iftikhar said that such positive activities helped keep away the young generation from social evils.
He said that they would celebrate joyful moments but would never forget the ill-treated motherland, which has been cruelly hit by the terrorists. The minister maintained that the restoration of long lasting peace was their ambition and for that purpose all resources were being utilised. He said that the government on its own level has also initiated cultural activities adding that they were of the opinion that culture was the most effective weapon against the terrorism. He said that they would utilize all available resources including media and culture for restoration of peace and crushing the terrorists.
Meanwhile, he also attended the Walima of son of Malik Amjad Khan Afridi, Provincial Minister for Housing at Babri Banda, Kohat. The marriage ceremony beside others was also attended by Federal Minister for Communication Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil, Senior Provincial Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Provincial Ministers; Syed Aqil Shah, Zarshaid Khan, Salim Khan, Hidayatullah, Muhammad Ayub Khan, Mian Nisar Gul, Senator Shahi Said, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, ANP Vice President Tajuddin Khan, MNAs and MPAs.
