PCB honours British Universities team


LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf on Saturday hosted a reception in the honor of British Universities team here at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
British Universities team coordinator Maj Robert James, Pakistan team head coach Dav Whatmore, Director International Cricket Intikhab Alam, PCB COO Subhan Ahmad, Zakir Khan, Director Coordination Wing Brig (r) Sajid Hamid, Manager Communication Subuhun Naz, GM Media Nadeem Sarwar, Manager, PCB high officials and British Universities team members were also present on the occasion.
PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf on the occasion said that the British Universities team visit gave the message to the world that Pakistan is a safe country.
"We are thankful to the British Universities team players who came here, played well and now are bringing back good memories and positive message with them. I hope they will convince other teams to come to Pakistan," he added.  The PCB chief also said that Bangladesh would inform the PCB soon about their visit to Pakistan which would also help brining international cricket back to Pakistan.
“We are very hopeful of Bangladesh tour to Pakistan. The way Pakistan won the Asia Cup on the last ball, in the same way we are waiting for Bangladesh team here in our country till the last ball and we are hopeful they will not disappoint us,” Zaka hoped.
British Universities team Captain Kamal Alam said: "We have found Pakistan a good and safe place and I would like to extend this message to other cricket playing nations that Pakistan is a good place and they must come here and play international matches..”
“The love and honour we have got from Pakistani people and PCB officials is unforgettable. We cannot forget it rather this great respect and honour will remind us the great moments we had spent in Pakistan and we will surely like to come to Pakistan again,” Kamal concluded.
At the end, British Universities team players were awarded souvenir by the PCB.
