KARACHI/ISLAMABAD – M Irfan of Saudi Cricket International grabbed a seven wickets for 95 to restrict host Pakistan Steel to 286 in their first innings on the first day of the second round three-day match of Patron’s Trophy Grade-II Cricket here at Quaid-e-Azam Park Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Pakistan Steel elected to bat first made 286 in 73.5 overs. Imran Haider (84) and Nadeem Abbasi (75) were main scorers for the Steelmakers. At the draw of stumps, Saudi Pak International had scored 28 for two in reply.

At UBL ground No 1, Pakistan Customs were bowled out for 144 after Samiullah took seven for 34 for Pakistan Navy which at close of first days play had reached 123 for six.

At NBP Stadium, Sindh Police made 271/9 before Ahmed Raza and Nasir Awais of Omar Associates struck to equally share eight wickets. Omar Associates had scored 38 for one in its first innings at close of day’s play.

PTV survived to collapse with the superb centuries by Riaz Afridi and Haseeb Azam in a group B match against Humak Engineering here at Diamond ground on Saturday.

Put in to bat first, PTV declared their innings on 393/9. Riaz played scored 120 while Haseeb Azam made unbeaten 101 runs. M Muqadas got 3/104. In reply, Humak Engineering were struggling at 15/3 in eight overs.  At National Ground, SSGC were all out for 333 runs with Saeed bin Nasir scoring 156 runs with the help of 30 boundaries.  Shahid Khan and Shaukat Hussain grabbed three wickets each. Army scored 52 for one wicket in eight overs at the close of first day's play.
