SADIQABAD - The representatives of various traders’ organisations demanded immediate transfer of the assistant commissioner of Sadiqabad for his alleged corruption, relocation of the Toll Plaza and removal of additional taxes.

The Anjuman Tajran Sadiqabad made these demands at a meeting held here.  The traders also demanded immediate removal of encroachments from across the city, saying that the tehsil traders would participate in the All Pakistan Traders’ Convention, observe shutdown strike, hold protest demonstrations and stage sin-ins against prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding.

On the occasion, TMA Committee chairman Hafiz Abdul Razzaq alleged that AC Rauf Ahmad and other TMA officials were plundering money in corruption and the illegal practice was going on under aegis of the AC. He said that the TMA was doing nothing to resolve the people’s problems. Therefore, he said, the AC should be transferred forthwith and the other corruption officials must be brought to book.

Meanwhile, meeting sought end to alleged corruption in Tehsil Council and protection of the traders’ rights, saying that the authorities concerned had made the income tax returns complicated. It demanded correction in tax returns. The traders’ meeting was presided over by Anjuman President Khalid Saleem. It was attended by representatives of different traders’ organisations including Hafiz Abdul Razzaq, Sadiq Javed, Mian Arshad, Riazul Hassan, Meraj Muhammad, Umar Draz, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Latif, Sheikh Yunus, Iqbal Hafeez, Israful Haq, Abdullah, Muzaffar Iqbal, Abdul Ghafoor and Muhammad Iqbal.

The Anjuman president, on the occasion, said that the traders would not pay tax on the publicity boards affixed in front of shops.
