PESHAWAR – Out of total 454, nomination papers of 36 aspirants from different political parties were rejected for contesting coming general elections on four National Assembly and 11 Provincial Assembly seats for Peshawar.

Some 126 candidates from almost all major political and religious parties filed nomination papers for four NA seats. Of them, 32 have filed nomination papers for NA-1, Peshawar-I. However, nomination papers of only two aspirants including PPP’s Zulfiqar Afghani were rejected while prominent among those whose nomination papers were approved included PTI Chief Imran Khan, ANP’s Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, JI’s Shabir Ahmad Khan and others.

For NA-2, Peshawar-II, a total of 31 aspirants filed papers; of them, nomination papers of two candidates were rejected while 29 were approved. Similarly, of the total 22, the nomination papers of two candidates were rejected for NA-3, Peshawar-III. Likewise, for NA-4, Peshawar-IV, some 31 aspirants filed papers for contesting general elections, however, 28 papers were approved and three were rejected.

For a total of 11 provincial assembly seats, some 338 contenders filed papers, however, of them, 27 nomination papers were rejected for scrutiny. Those whose papers have been rejected for one reason or other can file appeal till April 10.
