SARGODHA – A Pak Army troop embraced martyrdom during an operation against terrorists at Terah Valley on last Friday and was laid to rest in the graveyard of Fatima Jinnah Colony Sargodha on Sunday with full military honour.

The 25-year-old soldier, Muhammad Safdar, was a resident of Muhammadi Colony. He joined Pak Army five years ago. He was brother of three sisters and two brothers. The family members said that the martyred had to marry after two months and they were preparing for it but he had embraced martyrdom.

WHEAT TARGET ENHANCED: The Food Department will procure 336,500 metric tonnes of wheat across the division in the current season which is 298,000 metric tonnes more than the last’s target.

Punjab Food Director Muhammad Usman stated this in a meeting held here the other day. He said that no restriction would be imposed on the transportation of wheat in the province following wheat procurement scheme 2013-14.

He said that distribution of gunny bags to farmers would start from April 15, while wheat purchase would be started form April 20, at all the procurement centres across the province.

He informed that 36 purchase centres had been established in the division and services of Revenue Department and market committees had also been acquired to facilitate the growers. Commissioner Shaukat Ali, Deputy Director Food Maqbool Ahmed Majoka and District Food Controllers of all four districts and other officers were also present on the occasion.
