BAHAWALPUR - It is time for the masses to elect educated and righteous persons in the upcoming general elections to strengthen democratic system and improve national image in the world.

These views were expressed by the speakers at a “Voters Education” introductory workshop arranged by a local NGO Aagahi Foundation to develop awareness about the vote value.

The speakers underlined the need for improving overall turn out of the voters in the elections for better results as in the past the average turn was just over 40 per cent.

Speaking on the occasion, IUB Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar urged the voters to take part in the elections enthusiastically as the elections were the base for democracy.

Al-Sadiq Desert Welfare Organization President Riaz Ahmed Baloch and District Programme Coordinator Zohaib Amjad informed the participants about the salient features and purpose of the workshop. They said that women’s support and participation was vital to improve overall turn out in the elections.

Local Government Director Shehzad Hameed, District Election Commissioner Mian Shahid Aagahi Foundation CEO Mubbarak Ali Masroor, Bishop Naeem Essa, Mufti Mazhar Asadi, Civil Society Network Chairman Syed Israr Hussain and the representatives of various organizations and students attended the workshop.
