KARACHI - ZA Nizami, the Vice Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology Karachi passed away on Sunday after protracted illness.

Engr ZA Nizami was acclaimed as one of the leading educationists of the country, having immortalised himself by establishing the engineering university. He has also served as Director General of the Karachi Development Authority, Additional Secretary, Government of Pakistan, and Advisor/Consultant to the World Bank and President of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association. Engr ZA Nizami, having graduated in first division in civil engineering from the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, in 1951, had many research publications to his credit on varpis  subjects.
