HAFIZABAD - Two teachers of Govt Elementary School Chak Kharal were thrashed and humiliated by 10 villagers.

The Sadar Police have registered a case against Naveed Ahmad, his father Saifullah, Shabbir Hussain, Farhat Abbas and six others.

According to School Headmaster Imtiaz Ahmad, Muazzam Bashir, a student of fourth class, and Naveed Ahmad, a student of seventh class, were declared fail in the annual examinations.

Thereupon, their relatives raided the school and beat up Muhammad Afzal Shakir and Zakaullah with clubs and also abused them. Resultantly, the nation-builders were seriously injured. They were removed to a nearby hospital where their condition was stated to be serious.

CALL FOR POS’ ARREST: President of Awami Mahaz, Rana Khalid Mehmood, said that there were more than 600 proclaimed offenders out of them over 200 were wanted by the district police in murder and other heinous crimes.

He said that most of these POs were being patronised by feudal-cum-politicians, which, he feared, would create law and order situation during the forthcoming elections.

He demanded that the district police should launch special crackdowns to round them up without any waste of time for peace in the district during the upcoming elections.

ROBBERIES: Two citizens were deprived of Rs0.4 million and cellphones by armed dacoits in two different place in the city.

According to police source, unidentified burglars intruded into the house of Zafar Iqbal S/o Haji Muhammad Wazir in Mohallah Sharifpura and made off with five tolas of gold ornaments and cash amounting to Rs20,000.

According to another report, Muhammad Azhar S/o Zaheer of Madhrianwala Road along with his mother was on way to Gujranwala Road on his bike when reached near helpline, three armed dacoits intercepted them and snatched Rs53,000 and cellphone from him.

WOMAN RESCUED: Timely action of Rescue-1122 squad saved the life of a young housewife who attempted suicide by jumping into canal.

According to rescue sources, 22-year-old Nusrat mother of two minor children of Bhoon Kalan had fed up with the indifferent attitude of her husband. She decided to put an end to her life by jumping into Jhang Branch Canal. Some villagers immediately informed the rescue squad and its divers succeeded in pulling her out alive.

NOMINATIONS ACCEPTED: RO Hafizabad Qamaruz Zaman accepted the nomination papers of candidate from PP-105 Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan and candidate from PP-106 Ch Asad Ullah Arian as they have produced verified degrees before the RO.
