SWABI – About 50 multinational and national companies would participate in the two-day ‘Industrial Open House and Career Fair’ of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology starting from April 11.

This was stated Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Pro-Rector (Academic), here on Sunday.

He said that all the arrangements are in the final stage and the students have been told to give final touches to their final year projects, which would be displayed by them at the workshop. The visiting representatives of the industry would see the research projects, enabling them to know about the continued research activities and its benefits for the country.

The gathering of the leading entrepreneurs and employers would be a great occasion for both the academic staff and industrialists to know each other, he said, adding that the business community could put forward their requirements and the academia could prepare the students according to the needs of the country, he added.

Abducted trader recovered

Meanwhile, a contingent of Khasadar recovered an abducted trader in a raid conducted on Sunday here in Ghundi area of tehsil Jamrud, official sources said.

Assistant Political Agent (APA) Jahangir Azam Wazir on a tip-off of the political administration raided the male guesthouse of Baz Mohammad and Gul Marjan, located in Ghundi area. A businessman, Salik Shah who was kidnapped a month back, was safely recovered, the sources said. One abductor, Shah Faisal, was arrested and put behind the bars, the sources said.

Talking on the occasion, APA Jamrud Jahangir Azam said, it is their mission to wipe out all anti-social activities from Jamrud.

Gamblers gang busted, stake money seized

The city police claimed on Sunday to have busted a gang of gamblers and arrested six members along with stake money and gambling equipment in Mohallah Sherukhel of Lakki city.

On getting the information, a police party headed by SI Abdul Saboor Khan raided the spotted house in the locality and found six persons busy in the gambling,” said a police official. He said that the law enforcers arrested them and seized the stake money of Rs 35,650.

“The arrested men included Muhammad Sadiq, Zakiullah, Anwar, Inayat, Muhammad Salim and Ameer Muhammad”, he maintained and said the police have registered a case against them under relevant section of law in Lakki police station.
