DC inaugurates Junalikoch Booni protection spur, bund

The Deputy Commissioner lauded the role of civil society organizations in development of Chitral.
He said that Chitral is a big district by virtue of land but due to less population, insufficient funds were released for development projects.
He said that some non-government organisations help the district government in rehabilitation and uplift schemes. He was addressing the inauguration of Junalikoch protection spur and bund on bank of Mastuj River at Booni.
The Chitral Integrated Area Development (CIADP) has released some Rs6.9 million for the construction of spur and protection bund at Junalikoch to save 144 households, irrigation channel, cultivable land and Orchard as well as degree colleges for boys and girls.
On the occasion, CIADP Programme Coordinator Asfandyar Khan briefed the participants about the objectives of his organization. He said that they support district government in construction of computer labs, classrooms, washroom in different government educational institutions and also work for rehabilitation like construction of spur and protection bund to save population from flood and erosion of earth. He urged on local people to making water pond for hunting of duck because it cause for diversion of river.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shuaib Jadoon who was chief guest on the occasion said that provincial government had earmarked Rs8 million for irrigation channels in the area. He claimed that the government compensated locals of Booni despite the fact that they had encroached on state land.
BLSO Chairman M Zafar Parvaz informed that they sought the government help but due to lack of fund the case was forwarded to CIADP which consented to fund the project.
Later, the DC also handed over Anaesthesia machine and other equipments to Doctor Ali Murad of THQ Hospital Booni.
