KARACHI - Sindh Acting IGP Iqbal Mehmood on Monday assumed the charge of new Inspector General of Sindh Police formally.

The slot had been lying vacant since the retirement of Shahid Nadeem Baloch for the last few months.

Police sources confirmed that the federal government issued the notification of Mehmood’s appointment. Mehmood was working as an acting IGP.

He is the senior most cop in the police department and has served at a number of posts including the Additional Inspector General of Karachi twice and also as Deputy Inspector General at different places.
