ISLAMABAD- NAVTTC has equipped 153,640 individuals with skill based training in different trades till the year 2013 since its inception. The commission has given these trainings under PM’s Hunarmand program . Apart from PSDP funded training programs, NAVTTC has taken a number of initiatives human resource development in country in collaboration with TVET Reform Support Program. These initiatives included successful promulgation and execution of National Skills Strategy (2009-13) to address the TVET challenges  and accreditation of 23 TVET institutes to improve the quality of TVET institutes and human resource concerned, the official said.
The other steps included development of 169 competency based curricula for unified training mechanism all over country and development of “National Vocational Qualification Framework” to provide vertical and horizontal progression to the Human resource under training.
The official said the commission is reviewing Apprenticeship Ordinance 1962 in collaboration with public and private stakeholders to address the latest training challenges of employees and employers.
The commission has developed Code of Conduct and professional ethics for TVET institutes in year 2011, which describes principles established to guide the Technical and Vocational Training (TVT) institutes to create their identity and institutional brand.
It has also developed a framework “National Qualification System for Teachers (NQST)” in consultation with stakeholder to standardize the qualifications and pays of TVET teachers, the official added.
NAVTTC has established a dynamic system of National Skill Information System on modern lines which will be helpful for vocational guidance of skilled human resource and 08 sector specific centers of excellence to play a pivotal role in promoting innovation and excellence in training.
