LAHORE - Spokesman for Punjab police claimed Tuesday that investigation police recovered seven Kalashnikovs, 45 heavy rifles including 8MM and 244 bore, rifles and bullets and cartridges worth more than Rs four million during last two weeks.
Following the directives of CCPO Muhammad Amin Wains, a crackdown against illegal arms was launched throughout the city. Police teams of different police stations including Lorry Adda, Misri Shah, Ravi Road, Shahdara Town, Nolakha, Mochi Gate, Tibi City, Shafiq Abad, Badami Bagh, Shadbagh, Islam Pura, Gowalmandi, Hinjarwal, City Raiwind, Johar Town, Sundar, Manga Mandi, Choongh, Mustafa Abad, Ghazi Abad, Defense A, Barki Road, Bata Pur, Harbans Pura, South Cantt, North Cantt, Garhi Shahu, Civil Line, Litton Road, Shahlimar, Old Anarkali, Garden Town, Kahna, Nishtar Colony, Samanabad and Shaira Kot arrested 50 criminals and recovered firearms of more than Rs four million from them.
SSP Investigation Rana Ayyaz Saleem stressed the need upon police to further expedite the campaign against illegal arms, complete the investigation of the cases immediately and solve the problems of common citizens. He said that quality investigation into the cases would be ensured and those involved in poor investigation would not be spared.
