The Punjab government announced to increase the registration fee on land transfer and stamp duty up to 16 percent in Gujranwala Division.

According to revenue officials, the government has directed to chalk out a new action plan to ensure 100 percent recovery of the taxes, land transfer fee and stamp duty at the increased rates Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.

The officials said that the provincial government had fixed the target of revenue collection of Rs1.36 billion through fees for the transfer of land ownership and stamp duty in Gujranwala district during the fiscal year 2014-2015. Only three months of this fiscal year have left but the department still remains unable to achieve the target. Despite remaining failed in achieving the target, the Board of Revenue has given a new target of Rs1.48 million in this regard. Special teams will ensure the recovery of, the official added.

Meanwhile, Director General Punjab Ahmed Aziz Tarar has expressed grave concern and dismay over the poor performance of officials of Excise and Taxation Department Gujranwala as it remained failed in achieving the recovering target of Rs320 million in the shape of property, professional, motor, house, entertainment and luxury taxes in the month of March, 2015.

The DG directed the E&T Gujranwala officials to ensure recovery of Rs320 million in April 2015. The special recovery targets have also been given to the excise & taxation officers concerned to ensure recovery of the revenue.
