ISLAMABAD - Commander-in-Chief, Minister of Defence and Defence Production of Egyptian Armed Forces General Sedqy Sobhi Sayed on Tuesday held separate meetings with President Mamnoon Hussain, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Rashad Mahmood and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and discussed issues of mutual cooperation.

Talking to the visiting dignitary, President Mamnoon Hussain called for further expanding and strengthening all aspects of bilateral relations, including defence cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt.

The president said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Egypt. The president stated that there is a potential between the two countries to further enhance partnership in diverse areas especially in defence sector. The president underscored the need for reciprocal visits by delegations from armed forces of both countries to explore new avenues of mutual cooperation and collaboration.

The president underlined the close diplomatic relations between the two countries based upon similarities of views on all-important regional and international issues. The president also appreciated Egyptian assistance for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and flood affectees of 2010 and 2011 in Pakistan.

General Sedqy Sobhi Sayed, Commander-in-Chief, Minister of Defence and Defence Production of Egypt thanked the president and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation between the two countries in diverse fields would be further enhanced in the future.

General Sedqy Sobhi Sayed also visited Joint Staff Headquarters Chaklala and called on General Rashad Mahmood, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. During the meeting they discussed security situation and areas of mutual cooperation between armed forces of both the countries.

Meanwhile, General Sedqy Sobhi Sayed visited General Headquarters and called on General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, regional security and military to military bilateral relations.
