ISLAMABAD -The authorities on Wednesday decided to take stern action against violators of the building by-laws in the city.
A meeting was held here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Chairman CDA/ Chief Commissioner Islamabad and was attended by Deputy Commissioner ICT, DIG (Operations) Islamabad Police, Member (Estate) CDA, and DDG (Enforcement) CDA. The agenda of the meeting included removal of encroachments from the state land and action against unapproved and illegal housing societies in Islamabad, causing loss to the public and state. It was also decided that action be taken against illegally-constructed buildings.
The meeting decided that strict action will be taken against illegal and unapproved housing societies. No illegal or unapproved housing society shall be allowed to advertise or publish materials to sell and purchase plots/ houses. FIRs would be lodged against owners, and bank accounts of the societies shall be frozen. The Chief Commissioner issued directions that action against encroachment must be initiated immediately and even if one brick is laid by encroachers, criminal action will be initiated against the concerned officials of CDA, district administration, and ICT police.
Meanwhile, the CDA administration has started a crackdown against the violators of building by-laws and non-conforming practice in the commercial centres. According to the details, the administration of the CDA has launched large-scale operations against land mafia, all kinds of illegal construction and encroachments throughout the city.
The CDA officials said that over violation of CDA building by-laws in F-6 Markaz, one of the most important commercial centres of the city, and for doing business without NOC, a restaurant has been sealed, while a restaurant at plot no. 18 in F-7 Markaz, a restaurant at plot no. 12-D, units no. 5 and 6, and a restaurant at plot no. 17 have also been sealed. It is to be noted that before sealing the said buildings, the owners of the said buildings were warned several times to end the violation of building by-laws.
