Inam Ghani says all available resources be utilised for best security of polling staff

LAHORE - Inspector General of Police Punjab, Inam Ghani on Wednesday directed the supervisory police officers not to spare any effort in security measures as per the instructions of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for by-elections in Sialkot and Khushab.

He said this while presiding over a video link meeting here at the Central Police Office (CPO) to review the security arrangements for by-elections in NA-75 Daska and PP-84 Khushab. The IGP said that all available resources should be utilized for the best security of polling staff in NA-75 Daska  and PP-84 Khushab by-elections and the command officers themselves should go out in the field to ensure  security arrangements. 

In addition to additional police personnel at sensitive polling stations, he said the services of Rangers should also be utilised as and when required while deployment of ladies police for security at women polling stations and booths should be ensured in all cases.  He said that additional personnel should be deployed for the delivery of election materials including ballot boxes after the completion of polling to ensure safe transfer of election materials. 

No space for land grabbers, goons in City: CCPO

Lahore police retrieved commercial property worth millions of rupees from land grabbers in a successful operation in Gulberg area here on Wednesday.  As per details, an overseas Pakistani resident Sonia Irfan had purchased 25 marla commercial property at MM Alam Road Lahore in the year 2006.  Later, she along with her husband had been settled at abroad for twenty years. The land grabbers in their absence, occupied the commercial property. The land grabbers had not given her possession of the property even the litigation was decided in her favour.  

Sonia ultimately referred to Anti Qabza Mafia Cell at Capital City Police Lahore and submitted a written application to the CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar who directed concerned police officers to take immediate action to retrieve the property.
