ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office Thursday and directed early evacuation of Pakistani nationals in various cities of Libya , including Tripoli and Tunis.
The meeting also reviewed the efforts being made by relevant quarters for the repatriation of Pakistani nationals stranded in Libya .
The security situation in Libya has deteriorated and warranted immediate action to repatriate all Pakistani nationals awaiting evacuation .
The prime minister directed that special chartered flights to be engaged on top priority for the evacuation of Pakistani nationals from Libya .
The prime minister further directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all concerned agencies to take all necessary actions for the safe and swift repatriation of the stranded Pakistanis .
He noted with appreciation the efforts made by Pakistan’s Missions in Tripoli and Tunis for the evacuation of around 2,500 Pakistani nationals from Libya .
Around 3500 Pakistanis are to be evacuated with immediate effect. The Embassy of Pakistan in Libya is making hectic efforts to repatriate Pakistan nationals in Libya at the earliest.
