ISLAMABAD - A total of 1,211,101 peoples, 3,093 villages and 8,658 houses have been damaged due to recent flood in various areas of the country, spokesman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Friday.

According to the spokesman, 449,460 persons have been affected by floods in Punjab, 625,641 in Sindh and 136,000 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Out of 8,658 flood damaged houses, 3,439 houses have been destroyed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 3,153 in Punjab, 798 in Balochistan, 321 in AJK, 812 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 162 houses have been damaged in Fata.

As many as 3,093 villages were affected by floods, out of which 2,278 are in Sindh, 512 in Punjab, 17 in AJK and 286 in Gilgit-Baltistan. According to NDMA, 170 people have so far died and 122 sustained injuries due to recent floods including 79 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 46 in Punjab, 23 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 13 in Balochistan, seven in Gilgit-Baltistan and two persons have died in FATA.

Out of 122 injured persons, the NDMA spokesman said, 68 persons were injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33 in Balochistan, eight in Punjab, five in Azad Kashmir, six in Gilgit-Baltistan and two persons were injured in Fata.
