LAHORE - Pakistani cueists M Asif, Asjad Iqbal, M Sajjad, Shahram Changezi, M Majid Ali and Babar Masih Friday started their 6-Reds World Men’s Snooker Championship 2015 campaign on winning note.

According to PSBA spokesman, Babar Masih registered first victory for Pakistan when he outclassed Bahrain’s Sadiq Alghuraifi 4-1. In other matches, hosts’ Shahram thumped Sri Lanka Loshaka Perera in straight frames 4-0, Sajjad outplayed Bahrain’s Abdulla Mujairan, Majid Ali crushed Bahrain’s M Omar Ashiq 4-0, Asjad Iqbal overpowered UAE’s Marwan Alfalasi 4-2 and M Asif routed UAE’s M Alshamsi 4-0.

In their second matches, Shahram registered triumph against Hong Kong’s Man Hoi Leong, M Sajjad against Saudi Arabia’s Yousef Alwadi, Majid Ali outlasted Mohsin Al-Abdul Rahman 4-1 while Asjad Iqbal toppled Hong Kong’s Chau Hon Man 4-1.

Earlier, Indian top seed Pankaj Advani was stunned by Qatar’s Bashar Hussain Abdul Majeed 2-4 with the score of 6-57, 49-24, 44-28, 0-59, 35-22, 38-1. But Pankaj bounced back in his next game by winning it against Chinese Li Yingdong 4-2 with the score of 29-36, 15-45, 67-4, 58-0, 38-24, 38-24.
