Rawalpindi - A district coordination meeting of low-cost private schools attached with Punjab Education Foundation under its Foundation Assisted School Programme was held here at a local hotel on Friday.

Chairman PEF Engineer Qamarul Islam Raja presided over the meeting; which was attended by school partners from ten northern districts including Rawalpindi.

Addressing the meeting, the chairman PEF underscored the need for promoting quality education in the deserving communities for their overall uplift and poverty alleviation, and said that PEF has arranged child-friendly atmosphere in its partner schools.

He said that partnership agreements have been signed with five thousand private schools in 36 districts of the province to provide free schooling to about two million needy male and female children who would have been out of schools if PEF were not there.

In order to meet rising educational needs of the poor communities, PEF free education programs are expanded every year; this also helps in strengthening the low-cost private schools in a number of ways.

He further said that PEF school partners are playing commendable role in education-promotion as their role is benefiting the impecunious strata.
