The Pirmahal police on Friday charged four persons with murdering a girl with electric shocks for honour.

The police booked Farooq, brother of deceased Shabana Bibi and her three cousins - Siddiq, Sharif and Sarwar on the complaint of Pirmahal Police Sub-Inspector Alamdar Hussain.

The complainant SI said that deceased girl Shabbana Bibi had eloped with a youth Liaqat Ali of Chak 741/GB and had contracted marriage without the consent of her parents.

Later, a village council (panchayat) got her divorced by her husband Liaqat Ali. Reportedly, the family brought her back to her house where they killed her with electric shocks. However, the police received complaints from the villagers that the accused had killed her with electric shocks and were going to bury her hurriedly. The police have launched manhunt for the accused.

Principal crushed to death


Principal of Government Postgraduate College for Girls Rashida Waheed died in a road accident here on Friday. Rashida Waheed, 55, was on the way to Multan to see her two daughters and husband. As her car reached near Alipur, a speeding trailer hit it from the rear. Resultantly, the principal received severe head injuries and died on the spot while others got minor injuries. Her dead body was shifted to her Abbasia town home. Funeral for the departed soul was offered at main Eidgah of the city at 6pm. Rashida Waheed was appointed as principal two years ago and she was survived by two daughters, a son and husband.
