PPP decides to sack KP president

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has decided to sack Kyber Paktunkhwa chapter President Senator Khanzada Khan due to poor performance of the party in recent Local Bodies’ elections in the province, The Nation has learnt reliably.
Sources informed this scribe that PPP has decided to appoint a young leader as party provincial head who will have abilities to lead the party from the front. Two young PPP leaders of KP are strongest candidates for new assignment, including Advisor to Party Co-chairman on KP Noor Alam Khan and ex-speaker National Assembly Faisal Kareem Kundi.
Sources said that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zadari wanted to appoint Noor Alam Khan as party president in KP and he also indicated this to Noor Alam Khan a few months back in Karachi
Sources further informed that Noor Alam Khan was most favorite candidate for Senate ticket from KP in last senate election but at last moment PPP issued Senate ticket to Khanzada Khan after his meeting with Asif Zadari. After issuing Senate ticket to Khanzada Khan, party leadership decided to appoint Noor Alam Khan as KP president and it could not be implemented so far in this regard, sources added. Talking to The Nation, a senior party leader said that party provincial leadership and workers were not in control of provincial party president.
He mentioned that PPP workers were disappointed with top leadership and had given tough time to former PPP premiers during their visit of Peshawar and used abusive language against them.
After this episode, Asif Zadari assigned the task to Senator Rehman Malik to visit KP and took the local leadership into confidence. Rehman Malik played his role actively and tried to unite the provincial leadership on one platform.
He said that Khanzada Khan could not perform in LG polls and PPP badly failed to secure masses’ support in the province. He said that provincial president KP did not play his role during recent floods in the province. He said that the party office-bearers did not establish any relief camp for the assistance of flood affectees. The Nation tried to contact Khanzada Khan and sent him text messages for getting his point of view in this regard but he did not reply.
Zardari arrives in London for
medical checkups
INP adds:  Former President and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari arrived here on Friday for medical checkups. He is expected to stay in London for two weeks. Asif Ali Zardari is expected to hold political meetings after one week and his son PPP Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will join him shortly. The former President’s sister has been in London for around a month while PPP leader Sharjeel Memon is also there with his family. A senior PPP source said there is no meeting scheduled between Asif Zardari and MQM leadership due to ongoing political tensions.
