Scientific policing need of the hour

Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana has directed police officers to promote scientific policing system and give respect to the complainants in police stations.
Chairing a meeting to review law and order situation in Multan region here at Circuit House on Friday, he made it clear that the country could not make progress until the society became peaceful. He stressed upon police officers to revive public’s trust on police department and give them a sense of protection.
The Governor said that the government brought about many reforms to develop police department on latest grounds. He said that the society had started enjoying the benefits of government’s efforts and now citizens’ life and property was safe. He directed district administration to ensure accomplishment of all projects in time besides ensuring quality of work. He said that the government worked day and night to put the country on path of progress and prosperity as a result of which country’s image on international level improved while the country gained economic strength.
Regional Police Officer Tariq Masood Yaseen briefed the Governor on this occasion and said that social reforms were introduced at police stations while keeping in view local culture. He added that a front desk was being set up at all police stations for complainants while separate sitting areas for men and women were being established. Earlier, the Governor met with a number of delegations and issued on spot orders for resolution of problems being faced by the people.
Those who called on the Governor included a delegation of Tax bar Association led by A Moed Khawaja, MNA Dewan Ashiq Bokhari, city president of PML-N Rana Shahidul Hassan and others.
MEPCO TO SET UP CONSTRUCTION DIVISION: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) is going to set up a new Construction Division besides making recruitments against different vacant positions. Mepco sources said that the Board of Directors of the company had approved establishment of new Construction Division in Khanewal Circle. The division would work under Project Director Construction Mepco and 22 new recruitments would be made for this division. Similarly, the BoD also approved two posts of Transport Supervisor and a Junior Clerk in Transport and Security Department.
Meanwhile, the Mepco authority has upgraded 33 senior clerks to Grade 11 under time scale up-gradation formula. The selection board approved the up-gradation from Grade-9 to 11.
