LAHORE Navy staged remarkable recovery to beat Pakistan Air Force 2-1 in Pakistan Premier Football League at Naval Complex, Islamabad. The seamen were 0-1 down in the 86th minute but turned the tide in final two minutes and sealed full three points from All-services affair. It was 26th and final match for Navy who are on top of the league with 57 points. PAF, who were in danger of relegation earlier, assured another A-Division campaign in 2010. They also completed their quota of 26 matches with 25 points. PAF, national title holder in 1986, took the game under control in the closing seconds of second session after motionless first half that produced no goal. Front runner Muhammad Iqbal, who hails from Toba Tek Singh, became most goal scorer for airmen in ongoing show when he stopped the goal draught in the 86th minute with his 4th goal. It was big agony for Navys coach Khalid Zubair but his boys gave him happiness with strikes in side 85 seconds. Winger Asif Mehmood neutralized the lead in the 88th minute after skipper Nomi Martin Gill opened the gate for him and Rawalpindi-born experienced striker Muhammad Basharat, raced onto Jabbar Hussains pass, to steer winner in the injury time. Meanwhile, WAPDA suffered set-back when they threw away 2-1 lead with NBPs midfielder Abbas Ali snatching 75th minute equalizer to bring scoreline to 2-2. Imran Niazi gave WAPDA 17th minute lead but Muhammad Asif levelled the issue in the 66th minute for home team. Zulfiqar Shah regained advantage for holders in the 73rd minute. It was left to Abbas to clip lovely equalizer as match ended 2-2.
