I condemn the Rawalpindi Parade Lane Mosque attack by Taliban in the strongest possible terms. This is a cowardly attack on unarmed civilians and military personnel that were busy offering their prayers. Rehman Malik has confirmed that all linkages run in the direction of Taliban and the arrests so far made in the terrorists attacks else where are also from organisations like the Tehrik-e-Taliban, Laskar-e-Jhangvi and Sipah-e-Sahiba. I am surprised at some of the politicians, religious leaders and journalists who are still trying to defend Taliban shifting the blame on foreign forces and in this way making the matter confusing. Unfortunately, Nawaz Sharif had also adopted the same policy in previous government's time due to which people of Pakistan are still confused and do not recognise the real threat they face from Taliban and their associated groups. I want to remind people that these same terrorists groups used to target mosques of the minority sects in the 1990s. The people were unaware about their shenanigans because the governments of the 1990s kept them unaware but now this extremism has reached our doors. It is high time that we, as a nation, are united to face these evil Taliban and eradicate them from Pakistan. -IJAZ TABASSUM, Kuala Lumpur, December 5.
