RAWALPINDI (APP) - Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) with the cooperation of educational institutes would work for promotion of the local industry, President, RCCI, Kashif Shabbir said on Monday. Talking to the President of a local educational institution, Izharul Haq at his office, here, he said the business community will facilitate the institutes in this regard. Kashif Shabbir quoting the Federal Board of Statistics (FBS) said that industrial growth was in negative trend in semi quarter of June-July 2009 with the ratio of -0.65 per cent. It is an alarming situation for the future economic uplift of the country as any nation cannot get the desired results without industrial development, he said. Kashif Shabbir further said that with the assist of educational institutes, industrial research will be carried out and a solid plan of action would be made to come out of the prevailing circumstances. He demanded of the government to initiate all out efforts to bring industry out of current crisis. Replying to a question, he said that research and development in industry is the need of the hour and students participation in research process will help them in finding new jobs and gaining practical experience as well. He ensured his full support to the educational institutions and hoped that the said sector will also help the business community. Speaking on the occasion Izharul Haq lauded the services of RCCI for business community of the region and promised that his team will cooperate with the Chamber. Senior Vice President Syed Ali Raza Saeed Shah, Vice President Khawaja Abdur Rashid Waien, members executive Col. (R) Mehmood, Dr, Shomail and Mamoon Anwar were also present.
