According to UNESCO, nearly 69 million new teachers are needed to achieve global education goals; they provide to quality of universal primary and secondary education by 2030. The report was prepared by UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS). Under the theme of valuing teachers and improving their status, it was released on the occasion of the world teacher’s day. According to report Africa has the highest teacher gap and they will need about 17 million primary and secondary teachers by 2030. Southern Asia has the second largest teacher gap, especially in secondary level – only 65 percent of youth across the region are enrolled in secondary education. Improving education quality requires far more than just having enough teachers in the education system. Unfortunately, in many developing countries, reliable information on teacher qualifications and teacher training is hard to come by. Teachers need to be trained and supported through professional development.
