KARACHI - A large number of political activists from different parties held a protest demonstration to condemn the US court verdict against Dr Aafia Siddiui outside Karachi Press Club on Sunday. The activists of Pasban, Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League-N and Pakistan Islamic Medical Association also took out a rally from Mazar-e-Quaid to KPC. The participants were holding banners and placards and pictures of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, inscribed with slogans against the US and Israel. They were chanting slogans, demanding the release of Dr Aafia and the court to take back this decision. While addressing the protest, Dr Fauzia Siddiqui said that she was receiving threats from the US agencies on her mobile who were degrading her regularly by calling her the sister of the convict according to her because she was giving the statements against the verdict. She claimed that the US was afraid of her thats why these types of tactics were being used against her, adding that when they could be frightened from a woman like her so what will happen when all the parties and nation will get united on this issue. She said that they had come out to liberalize America through this campaign for the release of her sister Aafia and she urged the protestors to chant slogans for the liberalization of US. PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi, in his address, said that the US was responsible for the bloodshed in the metropolis and dr Aafia Siddiqui case had come up with a message to take back the country from the US possession. He called upon all the international human rights organizations to come and see that how many people were gathered to get release Dr Aafia. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Sindh General Secretary Sarwar Rajput said that former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf must be hanged in public who was responsible for this issue. Doctor Sohail Akhtar from Pakistan Islamic Medical Association showed his solidarity with Dr Aafia Siddiqui, saying that this issue could be resolved if all the nation together put efforts. At the end president of Pasban Altaf Shakoor addressed the rally and said that all the leaders of the country were responsible for this regretful act and termed the parliament as rubber stamp. He criticized the Pakistani ambassador in US Hussain Haqqani and alleged that he was an American agent. He mentioned that this caravan will move towards Islamabad by passing all the cities and streets to aware the nation for repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. Ahmed, the son of Dr Aafi Siddqui who was also present appealed to the entire nation to get united for the release of her mother.
