KARACHI Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said the process of political reconciliation would continue in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, and the opposition would be taken into confidence on all national issues, hoping to ensure stability of the government and strengthening of institutions. He was addressing Sindh Assembly members, office-bearers and senior workers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) at the Chief Minister House on Sunday. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, federal and provincial ministers belonging to PPP were also present on the occasion. PM Gilani, also the Vice-Chairman of PPP, on the occasion heard the Divisional and District office-bearers and senior workers of the PPP who explained to him problems and demands of their respective areas. He assured that their problems would be looked into and steps would be taken for their redress. He said he would also meet with the members of the Provincial Assembly. PM Gilani stressed that after seeking opinion from all, a comprehensive strategy would be evolved to implement it for pursuing plans for the people betterment. He also assured the PPP office-bearers and workers that party would be strengthened; it would also help strengthen the government. Referring to the issues raised on the occasion for generation of employment opportunities, taking up of development projects, empowerment, resolution of water problems and implementation of section 27-b of banking companies ordinance, the PM said all such issues would be resolved. He said he would ask Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Pir Aftab Shah Jilani to take up these matters in a bid to resolve them at the earliest. Earlier, after his arrival at Karachi, the PM met with Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and CM Qaim Ali Shah at the Governor House. The matters relating to the political situation obtaining in Sindh and the recent disturbances in the city after the terrorism acts were discussed. The Governor and CM apprised the Prime Minister of the law and order situation and informed him that it has improved a lot as the security has been beefed up to ensure citizens protection. As regards political reconciliation among the political parties, the Governor and CM Sindh informed the Prime Minister that mutual dialogues had helped restore peace, particularly in Karachi and generally in Sindh province. On his arrival at Karachi Airport, the Prime Minister was received by the Governor Sindh, CM and high officials.
