LAHORE -The three camps organised by the Pakistan Rugby Union concluded here at the DHA Rugby Stadium on Monday. The Lahore camp was a part of the first stage of the selection process for the national and development squad teams. In the first stage, elite players were nominated by all members of the Pakistan Rugby Union. A total of 120 players tried out in the three camps. The North camp was held in Islamabad, South in Karachi and Central in Lahore. The departmental players were also given a chance at the All Pakistan Inter Departmental Championships. As many as 30 players were selected for development team while 30 were selected for Pakistan Purples team and other 30 for Pakistan Blues. The camps will ensure that the Pakistan team will be ready to appear in the HSBC Asian 5 nations tournament. The central zone camp was attended by Players belonging to Punjab, Police, Wapda, HEC, LUMS, Lahore RFC and DHA Rugby Club. National team coach and head selector Rizwan Malik commenting on the camps and selection process said: "This year, we assessed and monitored that all the players improved their performances than the last year. The selection process will be tougher for the committee due to their good performances."
