LAHORE - Leaders of religious parties have held the United States responsible for the death of Shumaila Kanwal, the widow of Fahim who was shot dead by US national Raymond Davis. Jamaat Islami chief Munawar Hassan said that the widow of Fahim killed herself only in frustration that she was not being provided justice by the rulers who were keen to defend the killer instead of their own citizen. He, while demanding trial of Davis for four murders announced that the JI would hold protest against the continuing injustice. JI Deputy Secretary General Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha at a Seerat moot blamed the government for the suicide of widow of Fahim. Jamaatud Dawaa Ameer Professor Hafiz Saeed while expressing deep grief over the death of widow of Fahim, said that she committed suicide due to governments pressure for reconciling with the murderer. He asked the superior courts of the country to take notice of the dying statement of Fahims widow and expose the hidden hands that were pressurising the aggrieved family for reconciling with the killer. Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith chief Senator Sajid Mir and Hafiz Abdul Karim also blamed Washington for Shumailas suicide and warned the rulers that the masses would take to the streets if Davis was released without trial. Urging the Chief Justice to take suo moto notice, they also demanded the government to categorically declare that the murder accused would not be extradited without fair trial.
