ISLAMABAD - Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik on Tuesday announced to set up separate investigation elite unit and prosecution wing in Islamabad Police for speedy probe into cases of crime of heinous nature as well as trail of criminals through collection of strong evidence against them.He made this announcement here while addressing the passing out parade of 15th lower course batch of the Islamabad Police. A total of 283 constables including lady constables and children of martyred personnel passed this course.The ceremony was attended by Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Bani Amin Khan, DIG (Headquarters), Ahmed Mukaram, SSP (Headquarters), Muhammad Zubair Hashmi, SSP Islamabad, Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SSP (Traffic), Dr Moeen Masood, AIG (Operations), Dr Sultan Azam Temuri, AIG Ashraf Zubair Siddqui, SPs, DSPs and other senior police officials of the district. A smartly turned out contingent of the Islamabad police presented guard of honour to the minister who also observed the parade along with IGP Islamabad. The minister said that separate investigation unit as well as prosecution wing would be provided with all possible resources and officers working there would be given one-step higher rank on the basis of their professional capabilities. He said that he wanted to look these units very effective through capable officers, who would have to work for speedy investigation and timely justice to people.The minister also issued on the spot directions to the authorities of the Police Foundation to early complete the necessary work in launching housing scheme for low cadre employees. He also announced to recruit 5000 more personnel in Islamabad police after approval in the upcoming budget.He said that Islamabad being the capital is an icon of our country and services of Islamabad police are very much satisfactory. The minister also appreciated the police by saying “I always admire this force because it is accomplishing various types of responsibilities including protection to the lives and property of citizens, countering activities of terror elements, protocol to dignitaries as well as security in the diplomatic enclave”.The minister urged the passing out candidates to accomplish their all responsibilities in an honest manner and serve the people with devotion as well as per their expectations. Islamabad police, he said, had rendered many sacrifices in war against terrorism and its personnel averted many threats with courage and even sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
