LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has underlined the need of increasing trade volume between Pakistan and Nigeria. While talking to Nigerian High Commissioner to Pakistan Dauda Danldadi who called on him here on Friday, the Chief Minster said that very cordial relations existed between Pakistan and Nigeria which need to be transformed into strong economic ties.  Besides discussing matters of mutual interest and promotion of bilateral relations, both sides agreed that to extend cooperation to each other in textile, rice processing, pharmaceutical, agriculture and other sectors. The Chief Minister directed Punjab Investment Board to formulate a consolidated plan for promotion of cooperation with Nigeria in the said sectors and recommendations be submitted as soon as possible.

While underlining the need of exchange of visits between the businessmen and investors of the two countries, the Chief Minister said Pakistan is ready to promote cooperation with Nigeria in textile, pharmaceutical, rice processing and agriculture sectors and a high level delegation of Punjab government will soon meet Nigerian authorities to finalized measures for promoting mutual trade and investment.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the business-friendly policies of the PML-N government are fetching investment to the country and trade and economic relations are strengthening with the friendly countries. He said that government has provided a favorable atmosphere for investment and special facilities are being extended for investment in various sectors due to which confidence of investors has restored. He said that Pakistan has an important place in agriculture, textile and livestock sectors and is ready to promote cooperation with Nigeria in these sectors.

Dauda Danladi on the occasion said that Nigeria attaches high importance to its relations with Pakistan. He expressed the desire to promote cooperation with Pakistan in textile, rice processing pharmaceutical and agriculture sectors.

TSML head calls on Shahbaz : Al-Tuwairqi Steel Mills Limited (TSML) Country Head Zaigham Adil Rizvi called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Friday and discussed matters relating to the investment opportunities and other issues. Vice Chairman Lahore Development Authority Kh. Ahmed Hasaan and Posco Resident Director for Pakistan Yoo Young-Ho were also present on the occasion.  While highlighting the role of private sector in national development, the Chief Minister said his government is through special incentives and effective measures is encouraging private sector as well as local and foreign investors. He invited the private sector to contribute to the stability of the national economy.

 He also appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the welfare and prosperity of the masses. He said that Shahbaz Sharif’s metro bus project is a splendid gift to the people and execution of this project in a very short time is no less than a miracle. He said that Shahbaz Sharif has indeed set new record of public service through his hard work and determination.
