QUETTA  - At least three people, including two alleged militants and one security personnel were killed in a predawn gun-battle between security forces and militants in Mand tehsil of Kech district, on Friday. Five security personnel and three alleged militants also sustained injuries in firing.

According to a statement issued by Frontier Corps (FC), the militants attacked a FC check post with rockets and other heavy weapons in Mand area of Kech district killing one FC member. "FC personnel fired back in retaliation, killing two militants and injuring three others," said FC spokesman Abdul Wasay in the statement, adding, "five security personnel and three militants also received injuries in shooting."

Wasay said that FC called Makran Scouts for sending more personnel and helicopter to counter the attack, however, the militants managed to escape.

"The body of deceased FC personnel and injured have been taken to Makran Scouts Headquarters Hospital through helicopter," he added.

Soon after receiving information about attack on FC check post, the FC's Special Operation Wing Force rushed to the area and started a search in the area to hunt down the attackers.

Inspector General Frontier Corps Balochistan, Major General Ejaz Shahid strongly condemned attack on FC check post and termed it a cowardly act.

He said such attacks on the part of terrorists could not demoralise the FC which was trying to restore peace in the province.
