Allegations baseless: MS

LAHORE - Punjab Institute of Cardiology Medical Superintendent Dr Sohail Saqlain has said that the allegations of purchase of heart valves on prices higher than the market were baseless.
In a statement issued yesterday, he claimed the said items were purchased at lower rates than the market as per annual contract.
Dr Sohail Saqlain said that payment has not yet made to the said firm. He said that Oxygenerators have been purchased at Rs22,110 per piece as against market price of Rs33,000.
Likewise, heart valve mechanical aortic were purchased at Rs46900 as against Rs70,000 in the market. Similarly, retrograde cannula were purchased at Rs 4,020 and its market price wasRs6,000. He refuted all the allegations, terming these futile efforts to damage the good reputation of PIC.
