QUETTA - Quetta Accountability Court Judge Pazeer Ahmed Baloch yesterday sent PML-N lawmaker and former food minister Mir Izhar Hussain Khosa for 14-day judicial remand in a corruption case of millions of rupees.

As the ex-food minister was produced before the judge, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Special Prosecutor Abuzar Haidar requested the court to approve a 14-day judicial remand of the accused.

During the hearing, the judge asked the prosecutor why the accused was arrested as his name was not included in the reference. The NAB official replied investigation against him had been underway since Oct 11, 2017, and he was arrested after warrants for him were issued on the orders of the NAB chairman on Feb 2. The NAB prosecutor informed the court that evidence against the accused would soon be furnished.

The accountability court judge, accepting the request of NAB for judicial remand of the former food minister, ordered a 14-day judicial remand of the accused until February 20.  Former food minister Mir Izhar Hussain Khosa was arrested in wheat embezzlement scam worth millions of rupees.
