Islamabad - The Bhara Kahu police have arrested a man for attempting to sexually abuse a girl of the same locality, said the police.

Muhammad Naeem son of Saparish, a resident of Mohalla Chaudharian Dhok Mohri Bhara Kahu told the Bhara Kahu police that on February 6, 2018 a resident of the area took his daughter Dua Naeem (4) to the rooftop of his house and attempted to sexually abuse her. This happened at around 4pm when he was not home. The locals of the area captured the man named Syed Haider Shah, son of Syed Abrar Hussain Shah (28) and handed him over to the police, according to the victim’s father.

According to the investigation officer, the medical check-up of the victim could not prove anything because the accused did not get enough time for committing the offence. “I have still obtained a one-day remand of the accused to further the probe,” he said. The police have booked the man under section 377-B and 452 of the PPC and further investigation is underway. Cases of sexual assault against minors have come under greater scrutiny in the country following the rape and murder of the six-year old Zainab in Kasur last month.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi has ordered heads of the police stations to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders till March 3, 2018. In his directions to Superintendent of Police (Investigation), all Zonal Superintendents of Police, Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers, he said that arrest of criminals committing in heinous crimes should be ensured. The SSP said those involved in crimes of kidnapping, kidnapping for ransom, dacoities and murders should be arrested at the earliest. The SSP also directed to ensure effective patrolling system in the city to curb crime.

Furthermore, Golra police have arrested four persons involved in supplying drugs to students of various educational institutions, a police spokesman said. Following directions of SSP (Operations), he said that efforts were accelerated to arrest those involved in drug peddling activities. He said that one of the teams headed by SP (Saddar) Aamir Khan Niazi including DSP Ghulam Muhammad Baqir, SHO Golra police station and others succeeded to arrest four drug pushers. During the preliminary investigation, he said, the accused were involved in supplying drugs to students at educational institutions. They have been identified as Zameer, Sarfraz, Waqas and Zain ul Hassan. The police recovered 460 gram ice from them and obtained their physical remand from the concerned court. Further investigation is underway.
