According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 57% Pakistanis opine that the media coverage in regards to Zainab’s rape and murder was responsible; one third say otherwise.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Zainab’s rape-murder case has been given significant coverage by newspapers and other media.

Do you think media coverage of the incident was responsible or irresponsible?” In response to this question, 57% said media coverage in regards to Zainab’s rape-murder was responsible, 34% said it was irresponsible, 9% did not know or wish to respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1781 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, January 08- January 15, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
