Police all set to meet any challenge: RPO

RAWALPINDI - Additional IG and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani has said that police have made all necessary arrangements to thwart any untoward incident on Yaum-e-Ashir (today) in particular and during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Harram in general. Security has been beefed up as well as precautionary measures have also been taken to protect the lives and property of the citizens. He said this while addressing a meeting held to review the security arrangements at CIA Office here on Wednesday. City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal Khan, SSP Operation Sardar Maqsood Khan, SP Rawal Town Zarahat Kiyani, SP Investigation Rana Shahid, SSP and City Traffic Officer (CTO) Raja Riffat Mukhtar, SDPOs, SHOs and the Ulema were also present in the meeting. RPO Nasir informed the meeting that terrorists wanted a lapse and weaknesses in security to fulfil their nefarious designs. He stressed that ladies' mourning processions must be checked to counter terrorism during Muharram. He urged that every one should play their due role to maintain law and order and added that no one would be allowed to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere. He also directed that ladies should be checked before their entrance in the mourning processions. "Security lapse would not be tolerated at any cost and flaws in this regard must be covered to stymie the nefarious designs of terrorists" Addl IG added. He instructed that the meal (lungar) should also be checked before its distribution among the mourners. He directed SSP and CTO Raja Riffat Mukhtar that vehicles must be checked thoroughly and the vehicles without numberplates must be discouraged.
