LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said workers are asset of the party and their services for restoration of democracy in the country can never be forgotten and the government will spare no effort for solving their problems. He directed the party workers to maintain close contact with the people and take active part in public welfare activities. He expressed these views while talking to delegations of PML workers at Chief Minister's Secretariat, here yesterday, says a handout. The Chief Minister said that government of PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has taken the responsibility of public welfare service in Punjab and revolutionary measures are being taken for this purpose. He said measures have been taken for the progress of the province and welfare of the people during a short span of period which are reflective of the fact that we are among the people and their service is our mission and we will not rest content till its achievement. He said the launching of food support programme for the poor and deserving people of Punjab is a milestone of the government of Mian Nawaz Sharif and 18 lakh people are benefiting from it. He said that transparency has been ensured in this programme so that assistance could reach only the deserving people. He said that first time in the history of the country not only 'Sasta Atta' had been provided to the people during Ramazan but provision of Roti at rupees two to the people has also been ensured on permanent basis and 'Tandoor Committees' have been set up throughout the province in this regard. The Chief Minister said he has firm belief that development process is of no value for the poor masses unless Roti is not ensured to them. He said that law of one-dish has been enforced in marriage ceremonies and has been lauded by every segment of the society. He said that this law has given relief to the people of white collared segment of the society who take loans for the marriages of their daughters and later continue to pay the same during the rest of their life. He said that opinion of the masses has also been sought for the elimination of tradition of spending huge amount of money in the marriage ceremonies in the province. He said that the people are not only facing great difficulties due to such traditions but energy and other national resources are also being wasted. He said that Islam also teaches us a lesson of simplicity and austerity. The Chief Minister said that special attention has been paid to the provision of medical facilities to the people in the province and again facility of free dialysis to the people has been provided in the province. He said that dialysis machines have been provided in all teaching and district headquarters hospitals while under a phased programme, MRI and CT scan machines are also being made available. Availability of free of cost medicines is also being ensured in the hospitals, he added. He said that a number of development projects have been launched in the province which are being speedily implemented. He said that besides spending each and every penny of the people on their welfare, third party audit system of development projects for transparent use of funds has been made mandatory. He said that without education no development can be made and for this purpose we have adopted a comprehensive strategy and set up endowment fund with two billion rupees. He said that besides setting up of science laboratories at four thousand schools, model schools are also being established and essay writing and speech contests have been arranged for polishing the capabilities of girl and boy students. He asked the party workers to strengthen the party and made public service their mission. On this occasion, the workers paid rich tributes to the Chief Minister for provision of Roti on cheaper rates, enforcement of one-dish law, elimination of encroachments, purging cities of garbage, provision of free of cost medicines and projects for generating energy. They said that the Chief Minister has proved through his practical measures that he is Khadam-e-Panjab in the real sense and only public service is his mission. They further said that they party workers will take part in welfare-oriented activities for strengthening the party.
