LAHORE – Former Principal Fatima Jinnah Medical College Prof Akbar Chaudhry has stressed upon the need of continuous research in medical science to ensure provision of modern healthcare facilities to the suffering humanity.

Addressing FJMC Convocation as chief guest on Saturday, he stressed upon the doctors to keep them up-to-date about changes in medical science as it would help them in proper diagnosis and medication. VC Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran, Principal FJMC Prof Rakhshanda Rehman and faculty members were also present. Prof Akbar Chaudhry said that lack of interest in research would gradually made doctor a quake. He urged the doctors to take oath of strictly following medical ethics in their lives. He said that one mistake of a doctor could cost patient his/her life.

He said that saving one life means saving the entire humanity and as such there was need of remaining careful while treating patients.

He said that it was a pity that the government thrice made the promise of making FJMC a university but it was never fulfilled. He said that population of Sindh was half of Punjab but there were 05 public sector and 7 private medical universities.  He stressed upon establishing more medical universities in Punjab. He said that spending money in education was a safe investment as it would give the nation an educated youth in future.
