KARACHI - Incumbent and popular president of Sindh Olympic Association Dr M Ali Shah and his secretary Ahmed Ali are all sat to retain their positions at the quadrinnieal elections to be held here Sunday (today) at Asghar Ali Shah stadium.
It was reliably learnt that no other candidate has filed nomination for any of the position on offer till January three which was the last date for the submission of nomination papers. Elections will be held on show of hand basis.
In the meantime a timely decision from Sindh High Court dismissing a petition seeking staying the elections has cleared the way for the polls which could have been delayed. Head of a provincial sports body had filed the petition seeking staying of the election. While passing the decision the court however advised the SOA not to announce the results of the elections and submit them with the court. The official results of the elections would be announced on January 12, a spokesman of the SOA said here on Saturday on query.
There are thirty nine provincial associations with total number of 78 votes, two votes each for one association. These bodies will attend the general bony on Sunday. The Sindh Provincial badminton Association however may not attend the general body as the factions in the body had failed to settle their difference and settle for one united body.
