Gas pipeline blast suspends supply to Sindh


QUETTA - Unidentified people blew up a main gas pipeline in the early hours of Saturday, suspending supply to various areas of Sindh.
According to police officials, unknown people had fitted explosives to an 18-inch diameter gas pipeline in Malgazar, near Gott Jani Khan area of Jaffarabad. The explosives went off with a big bang, destroying a large portion of the pipeline and suspending gas supply to various areas of Sindh.
After the blast, a huge fire broke out which was put out by the officials of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSCGC) and local administration. SSGC officials said the pipeline was injecting about 114 MMCFD (million cubic feet per day) gas to SSGC system, adding that the repair work of damaged pipeline has been started.
It may be mentioned here that unidentified people had exploded same pipeline few days back which was repaired on Jan 5. The police have registered a case against unidentified persons and started investigation.
