KARACHI - Pakistan Scrabble Association (PSA) is organizing PSO 13th Inter School Scrabble Championship at Beach Luxury hotel on January 22. The event was announced by Pakistan Scrabble Association and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in a joint press release issued here Saturday.
"PSO has agreed to sponsor this event in which 400-500 players from the best Karachi schools are expected to take part. Top 25 players will be picked for training and coaching for the 2012 World Youth Scrabble Championship which will be played in England in December", said organizing secretary.
The popularity of scrabble is on the rise after Pakistan's impressive performance at the World Youth Scrabble Championship 2011 in December where Pakistan finished at 5th position. Students of all schools and colleges can take part. Players are divided into junior and senior categories while an elite group of top 16 youth players is placed in a special category.
The last date of registration is January 19. Entry forms can be obtained from Beach Luxury hotel or downloaded from www.pakistanscrabble.org.
