Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that Mansoor Ijaz is not a Pakistani citizen and that memogate has hurt the sentiments of the nation.

Talking to media here in Islamabad Sunday, Malik said Mansoor Ijaz hatched memogate conspiracy to sell his article. He said if Mansoor Ijaz had visited Pakistan earlier why could he not come now? He said someone should also question about the article which he wrote against the ISI.

He said there should be investigation of whether PML-N had contact with Mansoor Ijaz or not, adding that N-League should tell nation about Ijaz's conspiracy. He said the government has appropriately responded to the allegations of PML-N. He said the political opponents had claimed that the president would not devolve his powers but by giving these powers to the Parliament the president has given a major dent to the politics of opponents. He said the opposition should appreciate the reconciliation policy and several other people’s welfare projects undertaken by the government.

The minister said the opposition should now admit that the leadership of the president was far more effective than theirs and this is being recognized world over. He said the government was following the vision of Benazir Bhutto. He said the country has been steamed out of many crisis and the remaining problems would be resolved sooner than later. He said democracy was guarantee to the survival of Pakistan and for the protection of coming generations.

Rehman Malik said all the assassins of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto have been identified.

On this occasion, Raja Pervez Ashraf, former Federal Minister for Water and Power, said they were not in favour of BB’s public meeting at Liaquat Bagh and had advised her against going there.
